Artist 名和 悠太 Yuta Nawa

1982年熊本生まれ、東京在住。
桑沢デザイン研究所 2部服装科を終了(新人賞受賞)。株式会社ESTNATIONヴィジュアルマーチャンダイザーに就き、メンズ統括、地方を担当。ESTNATIOに勤務後、書家岡桑玄に師事。
2017年から2025年まで国立新美術館で作品を発表し、毎日書道展にも入選。
書を起点に、文字や言葉、人の記憶や意識、目には見えない関係性を探究。近年は鉄板や鏡面鉄板を支持体とした作品を制作し、その作品はMercedes-Benzに常設展示されるなど、絵画、空間、立体、インスタレーションへと表現領域を広げている。
2026年1月には麻布台ヒルズ 大垣書店ギャラリーにて個展を開催。同年、「Invisible Landscape」を始動し、北海道・余市で建築と作品の関係を探る空間プロジェクトを展開。また、shu uemuraとのコラボレーションにも参加。
視覚だけでなく、身体や感覚に残る美しさを追求している。

Born in 1982 in Kumamoto, currently based in Tokyo.
After graduating from the Fashion Design Department (Evening Division) of Kuwasawa Design School, where he received the Newcomer Award, he worked as a Visual Merchandiser at ESTNATION before studying under calligrapher Gen Okuwa.

From 2017 to 2025, he presented works at The National Art Center, Tokyo, and was selected for the Mainichi Shodo Exhibition.

Using calligraphy as a point of departure, his practice explores letters and language, human memory and consciousness, and the invisible relationships that connect people and the world. In recent years, he has created works on steel and mirrored steel surfaces, expanding his expression beyond calligraphy into painting, spatial works, sculpture, and installation. His works are also permanently exhibited at Mercedes-Benz.

In January 2026, he held a solo exhibition at the Ogaki Bookstore Gallery in Azabudai Hills, Tokyo. In the same year, he launched Invisible Landscape, a spatial project in Yoichi, Hokkaido, exploring the relationship between architecture and artwork. He also collaborated with shu uemura.

Through his practice, he pursues a form of beauty that resonates not only visually, but also through the body and the senses.
